May 6th - Project update

**Temporary intersection closure at

1350 North and 2300 West, a closure within the closure**

This week the contractor will be excavating a very large hole in the middle of the intersection of 1350 North and 2300 West to place a deep storm drain manhole. It is anticipated that this work will take place commencing Wednesday, May 7th through Friday, May 9th. The intersection will be closed to through traffic - the local traffic on 1350 North that typically heads east and then north. During the installation of this manhole, the intersection will be completely closed to all through traffic, and all traffic will need drive west to go either north or south.

**ROAD CLOSURE NOTICE - 2300 WEST FROM

900 NORTH TO 1500 NORTH**

From last week - a gentle reminder to those who use the 1700 West detour route -please tread lightly. We have received concerns from residents living along 1700 West of excess speed and increased congestion. The contractor is working as quickly as possible to complete the current section of 2300 West. Please drive like you would on your street and where your kids play. Most of the people who live along 1700 West, front directly onto the street and are more keenly aware of excess speed and congestion, unlike other streets that back on to a heavy traveled street. Your continued patience and respect for speed limits will be appreciated.

On going - the contractor and Lehi City Police Department have noted an increase in attempted through traffic in the road closure construction zone, especially after hours or on weekends when there is not active construction. We understand the detour route and 2300 West construction closure is not convenient, but it is necessary to get this section of the project finished and opened up as soon as possible. Your continued avoidance of the road closure and construction zone will be greatly appreciated. Please continue to use the designated detour routes. This is for your safety.

Sections of 2300 West will remain closed to through traffic until the road and utility improvements are complete. Residents living within the closure area will be permitted to enter and exit the road closure area to gain access to their homes.

Updates will continue to be made as road sections are complete and through traffic is allowed. In addition, advance notice and detour instructions will also be provided as construction moves south, and other areas are temporarily closed for construction.

This week the contractor has been focused on installing storm water infrastructure, mostly inlet boxes, manholes and lateral pipes from the boxes to the main storm drain line.

In addition to storm drain improvements, the contractor has been excavating along the side of the existing pavement to make preparations for additional asphalt for new street width and curb, gutter, sidewalk and park strip improvements.

The contractor continues to excavate and prepare the full width of 2300 west for the additional improvement of curb, gutter, park strip and sidewalk - in addition to underground utilities.

IMG_8884.jpg

In addition to the curb, gutter and sidewalk improvements, storm water inlets and collection boxes will be added to receive storm water runoff. This will improve road conditions during and after storm events. Rather than storm water possibly pooling in the roadway or running off onto private property, it will be collected along the curb and conveyed into the new and or existing storm water collection system. Along this particular section of road, these storm water improvements did not exit prior to construction.

Most of the construction activity as of right now is along the side of the roadway. The contractor is preparing these areas for curb, gutter, park strip and sidewalk. There were many large overgrown trees along the front property lines that needed to be removed. This area is being over excavated and new structural fill imported. As you will recall, most of 2300 West between 1500 and 900 North did not have these improvements on the west side of the road.

Side dumping trailers are used to import structural fill material that will be placed and compacted.

Old sections of flood irrigation pipe are being removed. Pressurized irrigation is being install to many of these properties as of part of the 2300 West improvements.

Most of the across-the-road utility installations and new connections are near completion.

Replacing an old pipe section with new pipe to service a fire hydrant.

Service laterals being extended from the main line into individual properties.

While the trenching and individual utility service laterals are mostly complete, this road closure will remain in place to facilitate the next phase of construction through this area. The next phase will include curb, gutter, sidewalk and park strip. Again, the road closure allows workers to complete the job faster without the interruption of through traffic. Once a section is complete, it will be opened to through traffic and the contractor will move to another section of road to improve. Your continued patience and cooperation are appreciated. Those living within the road closure area, please proceed slowly and with caution, for your safety and those working in this area.

There is still a significant amount of work to take place along the side of the roadway. These photos are representative of the type of work taking place along the edge of the right of way and private property - tree and stump removal.

As you will recall this section of 2300 West was previously one lane in each direction with no curb, gutter or sidewalk. Lehi City worked with individual property owners to acquire additional property which allows the right of way to be widened. The additional right of way will allow for two lanes of traffic in each direction with a center turn median and curb, gutter and sidewalk.

April 9th - Project update

**ROAD CLOSURE NOTICE - 2300 WEST FROM 900 NORTH TO 1500 NORTH**

2300 West will remain closed to through traffic until the end of April. Residents living within the closure area will be permitted to enter and exit the road closure area to gain access to their homes.

March 31 2300 West closure and detour April 9 2025 900 North only.jpg

Most of the across the road utility connections have now been completed. Water, pressurized irrigation, flow meters and sewer lines are the utilities and infrastructure that are being installed from the main lines and extended over to the individual homes. Along this section of 2300 West, most of these homes are older and previously did not have these services provided by Lehi City.  Meaning, many of the homes were on septic systems, flood irrigation and deep wells.

While the trenching and individual utility service laterals are mostly complete, this road closure will remain in place to facilitate the next phase of construction through this area. Again, the road closure allows workers to complete the job faster without the interruption of through traffic. Your continued patience and cooperation are appreciated. Those living within the road closure area, please proceed slowly and with caution, for your safety and those working in this area

We have received several inquiries about the construction schedule for the remainder of the project. With this particular road closure, the goal to is get all the utilities that cut across the road installed and covered up in this section. This will take most of the month of April.

There is still a significant amount of work to take place along the side of the roadway particularly in the form of curb, gutter, sidewalk, park strip and asphalt paving. As some of this work is along the outer edge of the roadway, sections of the road will be open and or closed as necessary improvements are made. Most of this work will take place between 1500 North and 300 North.

As far as schedule, this work will be taking place in phases depending upon material and workforce availability through the end of the project, which is fall of 2025. The schedule will be updated as work progresses. In the meantime, 2300 West is under construction and you may want to consider alternate routes to reach your destination.

April 2nd - Project update

**ROAD CLOSURE NOTICE - 2300 WEST FROM 900 NORTH TO 1500 NORTH**

Monday, March 31, through end of April, there will be a full closure of 2300 West between 900 North and 1500 North.

900 North is now open as the detour route for the 2300 West closure.  The contractor still needs to pave a small section of roadway but will use flaggers to direct traffic.  Please proceed with caution while the paving work is underway.

Residents living within the closure area will be permitted to enter and exit the closure to gain access to their homes. This section of road will be closed to all but this local traffic. To view a map of the detour route and learn more about the schedule, please visit the project website at: https://www.lehi2300west.com/updates or scan the QR Code at the bottom of the page.

The road closure on 2300 West, just south of 1500 North through 900 North is in full swing. Many utilities pipes and lines are being exposed in large deep trenches that cut perpendicular across 2300 West. As a reminder, the road is closed to thru traffic. Only those who need to access their home, via a driveway off of 2300 West should enter the closed areas. All other traffic, please do not venture into the active construction zone.

IMG_8382.jpg

When the sign says, "Road Closed", that means, unless you live on this section of road please do not try to cut through. If you do live within the closed section of road, you can access your driveway, but please proceed with caution, drive slow, watch for workers, equipment and open trenches.

Trench work, exposing existing utilities and getting ready to run new sewer laterals to existing homes with older septic systems.

Off-loading material and equipment. Additional work along 2300 West.

**ROAD CLOSURE NOTICE - 2300 WEST FROM 900 NORTH TO 1500 NORTH**

Monday, March 31, through end of April, there will be a full closure of 2300 West between 900 North and 1500 North.

From Tuesday, April 1st thru Thursday, April 3rd there will be a temporary closure on the 900 North detour route for a separate and unrelated project. (see map for detour routes by date)

Residents living within the closure area will be permitted to enter and exit the closure to gain access to their homes. This section of road will be closed to all but this local traffic. March 31 2300 West closure and detour March 27 final.jpg

During the winter slow down the contractor did tilt up the traffic signal pole bases. Eventually these will have mast arms and provide a four-way signalized intersection and streetlights. This will be an added safety feature for pedestrians and drivers using this area. There is more work to do before the traffic signals appear, but it is all part of the 2300 West improvements. There should be another schedule update in the next few weeks that can provide a better timeline for the rest of the project to the end, this fall.

January 22, 2025 - Project Update

It's that time, the traffic signal mast arms have been tipped up and installed at 2150 North and 2300 West.  Thermo-plastic stop bars have also been installed.  The stop bars give drivers the message to stop and not idle or wait in the crosswalk.  From there it is literally a flip of the switch - power is on and signal lights are working.  Well, mostly.  Apparently, there was a bad cable in the signal control box that caused the traffic lights to go into a flashing red mode.  That has been fixed, and the lights are currently functioning.

It may seem obvious but watch for these new signal lights at this intersection - you would be surprised at how often new signal lights are "blown off" when they have recently been deployed.  Also, as a reminder, when the signal is red, do not block the intersection, or roll into it when it is yellow and get stuck in cross traffic - that would be embarrassing!

Now what?

For the most part over the next six weeks the project will go into winter shut down mode, with one exception.  B Jackson, a subcontractor to Kenny Seng Construction will be doing some work at the intersection of 900 North and 2300 West.  They will be tipping up/installing the new traffic signal poles for this future signal-controlled intersection.  It is anticipated the project will get underway again the middle of March and be full steam ahead until the projected completion this fall of 2025.

December 18, 2024 - Project update

The new streetlights are now mostly installed.

The traffic controls panels will be removed this week.

At this point, the majority of the project will go into winter shut down. There will be some minor work taking place along shoulders, out of the vehicle drive lanes. That is, the heavy work of placing concrete curb, gutter, sidewalk, asphalt road paving, trenching, excavation - major traffic disruptions are done for now, until next spring. From previous newsletters, we have noted the goal was to finish the north end of the project before the winter shut down - from 1500 North to 2150 North. The balance of the project - 1500 North to Main Street will start up again in the spring and finish fall of 2025.

The dedicated right turn lane is now open and seems to be working well. The flashing yellow pedestrian warning signal light accentuator pole will be replaced behind the sidewalk, and out of the way of vehicle traffic.

New candlestick delineator curb toppers to indicate vehicles cannot cross the high back concrete median, just in case it was not abundantly clear. You may have also noticed a few of these on the south side of the pedestrian crosswalk for North Point Elementary, just north of 1750 North. These were installed to keep vehicles out of the double left turn median until after, north, of the cross walk.

This is not a permanent solution. There is now only one utility provider that still needs to relocate their equipment - almost there. Once this utility box is relocated, the rest of the concrete will be poured to provide full pedestrian width.

IMG_6411.jpg

A continued request of please do not block the 2150 North intersection. This problem will be solved when the traffic signal poles and lights are installed mid-January. Until then, please respect the sign and be courteous by not blocking the intersection!!!

December 11, 2024 - Dedicated right turn lane is now open!

This week the contractor will continue removing (stripping) previously applied paint or thermoplastic stripes, arrows and directional indicators from the old asphalt. With the additional lanes being added or new configurations, turn movements, etc. quite a bit of the old paint will need to be removed. To keep the process moving and the traffic impacts to a minimum, the contractor will be re-applying (striping) new paint and thermoplastic lines, directional indicators, stop bars, and crosswalks right after the old paint is removed.

On Wednesday night/Thursday morning, December 11th &12th the contractor will be applying more thermoplastic directional signage on the asphalt. Watch for traffic panels and shifting lanes.

On Saturday, December 14th the contractor will be removing newer paint and re-applying new paint for what is now a south bound, left turn lane from 2300 West onto 1930 North. Currently this center median now functions as a one way, left turn lane into the new, to be developed subdivision east of 2300 Wes., Once it is painted it will function as a two way, left turn median, available also for traffic north bound on 2300 North from the Cranberry Ridge subdivision at West Cranberry Ridge Road.

As always, please be cautious and courteous of construction works. Be on the lookout for construction equipment trucks, traffic control panels, lane closures, and lane shifts. And mostly slow down.

Elsewhere on the project, south of 1500 North on 2300 West you may have noticed long, plastic- wrap-covered poles. These are new streetlights, and many of them will be installed over the next few weeks.

The dedicated right turn lane is now open and seems to be working well.  Yes, we know, and have the video of the semitruck taking out the pole for the flashing yellow pedestrian warning signal light accentuator. It will be replaced and relocated out of the way of large truck turn radius rear wheel path.

IMG_6631.jpg

New candlestick delineator curb toppers to indicate vehicles cannot cross the high back concrete median, just in case it was not abundantly clear.

New thermoplastic directional signage, in this case for cyclists and vehicles to be aware of each other.

A continued request of please do not block the 2150 North intersection. This problem will be solved when the traffic signal poles and lights are installed mid-January. Until then, please respect the sign and be courteous by not blocking the intersection!!!

December 4, 2024 - Mostly stripping and striping paint this week.

This week the contractor will be removing (stripping) previously applied paint or thermoplastic stripes, arrows and directional indicators from the old asphalt. With the additional lanes being added or new configurations, turn movements, etc. quite a bit of the old paint will need to be removed. To keep the process moving and the traffic impacts to a minimum, the contractor will be re-applying (striping) new paint and thermoplastic lines, directional indicators, stop bars and crosswalks right after the old paint is removed.

On Wednesday, December 4th most of the work will take place on 2300 West in the non-UDOT right of way. On Sunday, December 8th most of the work will be in the UDOT right of way - which is both the east and west bound lanes of 2100 North and as it applies to 2300 West.

As always, please be cautious and courteous of construction works. Be on the lookout for construction equipment trucks, traffic control panels, lane closures and lane shifts. And mostly slow down.

The dedicated right turn lane has not yet opened. There is some wiring that still needs to take place. The wiring will make the connection for the flashing yellow warning lights that allow for pedestrians to cross over to the pedestrian refuge before crossing 2300 West or 2100 North. Once the wiring is complete the dedicated right turn lane will open for use. Your continued patience and caution are appreciated.

This is not a permanent solution. There are two utility providers that still need to relocate their equipment. Once these utility boxes are relocated, hopefully shortly, the rest of the concrete will be poured and provide a full pedestrian width.

Please do not block the 2150 North intersection. This problem will be solved when the traffic signal poles and lights are installed mid-January. Until then, please respect the sign and be courteous by not blocking the intersection!!!

The signal pole mast arms and accompanying traffic signal lights at 2150 North and Triumph Blvd/2300 West intersection will not be installed until the middle of January of 2025. The delivery date was delayed by the manufacturer. Until the poles and traffic signal lights are installed, please do not block the intersection. Your continued patience, courtesy and caution will be appreciated.

November 27, 2024 - The traffic panels are out of the drive lanes, mostly. Please don't block the intersection.

Last week the contractor finished the concrete sidewalks and back filled park strips with rock and or topsoil for sod early next spring.

IMG_6417.jpg

Ok, this is not a permanent solution. There are two utility providers that still need to relocate their equipment. Once these utility boxes are relocated, hopefully shortly, the rest of the concrete will be poured and provide a full pedestrian width.

Unfortunately, the dedicated right turn/acceleration lanes from south bound 2300 West onto west bound 2100 North did not open on Monday as anticipated. The pedestrian accentuated yellow warning crossing lights are not yet functional. Once the wiring is connected, anticipated to be next Monday, December 2nd, this lane will open. Almost there, your continued patience and caution are appreciated.

There are now two north bound, through lanes continuing on 2300 West through the 2100 North intersection and a dedicated west bound turn lane onto 2100 North- yay!!

The traffic panels south of 2100 North for north bound 2300 West traffic are gone - yay!!!!

Here is where the project and your local area neighbors really need your help. It's a little sign, but it really means a lot to the people from the two adjacent neighborhoods. Please do not block the intersection of 2150 North. This problem will be solved when the traffic signal poles and lights are installed mid-January. Until then, please respect the sign and be courteous by not blocking the intersection!!!

Traffic Alert - Sunday morning, November 24th from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. the contractor will be making some minor adjustments on the traffic pole signal mast arms. Expect temporary lane shifts and closures in the intersection of 2300 West and 2100 North. If you cannot avoid using this intersection - please slow down, be courteous and watch for construction workers and bucket trucks.

Update - November 20, 2024 - House cleaning and seasonal wind down.

This week the contractor will be finishing up concrete sidewalks and back filling park strips with rock and or topsoil for sod early next spring.

IMG_6340.jpg

The new raised center median in 2300 West, north of 2100 North. The contractor will be working within the traffic control barricade to apply additional paint striping and thermo-plastic pavement directional arrows.

The contractor poured most of the concrete sidewalks on the west side of 2300 West, north of 2100 North. Workers are backfilling the park strip with decorative rock. The dedicated right hand turn lane and the west bound acceleration lane on 2100 North will be opened to traffic on Monday, November 25th. The east side of north bound 2300 West - the newly added through lane - will also be opened on Monday, November 25th.

Update - November 12, 2024 - Even the concrete needs a blanket

Last Sunday the traffic signal pole on the corner of 2300 West and 2100 North, in front of the 7-11 convenience store, was relocated further to the east to accommodate the new turn radius and sidewalk.  Weather permitting, the concrete sidewalk for this area will be poured this week.

IMG_6222.jpg

The new raised center median in 2300 West, north of 2100 North, has now been poured and covered in blankets to keep the fresh concrete from freezing.

Weather permitting, this week the contractor will be finishing the concrete sidewalks on the west side of 2300 West, north of 2100 North.

Update - November 6, 2024

On Sunday, November 10th, (weather permitting) the traffic signal pole on the corner in front of the 7-11 convenience store will be relocated further to the east to accommodate the new turn radius and sidewalk. As a result, all the traffic signal lights will not be functioning in normal mode. All vehicle movement through the intersection of 2300 West and 2100 North will be controlled by highway patrol or local police officers. Although the work will be taking place on the northeast corner, the entire intersection will be impacted as all of the traffic signals are connected. Please be alert, slow down, and be courteous and/or consider avoiding this intersection. It is anticipated this work will last from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. The contactor is attempting to get as much work done in advance by pulling cables and putting the signal pole apparatus in place before the signal lights are impacted on Sunday.

Last Sunday, November 3rd, the contractor was able to pave another asphalt lane. This north bound lane on 2300 West is anticipated to be functional by the end of November. It will add north bound capacity on 2300 West through the 2100 North intersection.

Watch for a new raised concrete median to be installed between the north and sound bound lanes in 2300 North, north of 2100 North. This work is taking place this week, weather permitting.

As previously stated, the contractor is scrambling to get as much work done as possible before the weather gets worse, especially in those areas outside of the drive lanes. Over the next few weeks, the contractor will pour concrete sidewalks and install rock mulch in the park strips.

The project goal continues to be - have all the 2300 West improvements completed by the end of this construction season from 1500 North to 2150 North - meaning by the end of November. For the most part the contractor will reach this goal with one significant exception. That is, for the 2150 North and Triumph Blvd/2300 West intersection, the signal pole mast arms and accompanying traffic signal lights will likely not be installed until the middle of January of 2025. This apparatus was ordered well in advance and on time, but only recently the contractor, Lehi City and design engineers were informed of the delivery delay. This is a bit of a setback as the two intersections - 2100 North and 2150 North will not function at its highest capacity until that time. The signal lights for these two intersections will be synchronized to maximize efficient traffic flow through this area.  Your continued patience, courtesy and caution will be appreciated.

Update - October 30, 2024  Much of the work is now weather dependent!!

On Sunday, November 10th, (weather permitting) the traffic signal pole on the corner in front of the 7-11 convenience store will be relocated further to the east to accommodate the new turn radius and sidewalk. As a result, the traffic signal lights will not be functioning in normal mode. All vehicle movement through this intersection will be controlled by highway patrol or local police officers. Please be alert, slow down, and be courteous and/or consider avoiding this intersection. It is anticipated this work will last from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

annotation of pole relocation.jpg

Construction progress on the pedestrian refuge. The new dedicated right turn lane from 2300 West on to 2100 North, west bound should be open by the middle of November.

Depending on the weather, generally 40 degrees and rising, this new north bound lane on 2300 West, between the east and west bound lanes of 2100 North will be paved in the next week. Watch for construction works, traffic control and heavy equipment. There will be large trucks entering and exiting this area as hot asphalt is delivered and placed in the new roadway lane. If the weather does not cooperate, work in this section will resume in the Spring of 2025, when the project starts up again.

Watch for a new raised concrete median to be installed between the north and sound bound lanes in 2300 North, north of 2100 North. This work will take place next week or first part of the following week, weather permitting.

The next few weeks will be the peak of construction activity in and around 2150 and 2100 North on 2300 West. Again, these activities will include placing asphalt for a new northbound lane (weather permitting), pouring concrete for medians, sidewalks, lane striping, signal pole relocations, lane shifts and temporary lane closures. In essence, for the next few weeks it will be worse before it gets better. And to complicate all this, the end of Daylight Savings is this weekend and the inclement weather is setting in, making construction and driving more complicated.

The coming two weeks will be the most congested due to the construction schedule. Next Sunday, November 10th the signal pole on the corner of 7/11 is going to be relocated a bit further east, this was scheduled originally for November 3rd. While the intersection will remain open, movement through the intersection will be controlled by local law enforcement officers. The contractor will also be repairing the rough transition from asphalt to concrete just north of 2150 North intersection (weather permitting). And also, weather permitting, the contractor will be paving the east side, new northbound lane of 2300 West.  If the weather does not cooperate, the eastside, northbound lane of 2300 West may be paved in the spring when the project gets underway again. The middle to end of next week the contractor will be constructing/pouring the center concrete median in 2300 West, just east of the new pedestrian refuge.

The goal has always been to be done with the 2300 West improvements by the end of this construction season from 1500 North to 2150 North. This is frustrating as the two intersections - 2100 North and 2150 North will not function at its highest capacity until that time. The signal lights for these two intersections will be synchronized to maximize efficient traffic flow through this area.  Your continued patience and caution will be appreciated.

Update - October 23rd - Please slow down and use caution!!

Starting Tuesday, October 22nd, the contractor will be performing night work along the west bound (north side only, south will still be open to through traffic) of 2100 North through the 2300 West intersection. The north lane will be closed from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. each night through Thursday night, until 6 a.m. Friday morning, October 25th.   Please watch for traffic control, traffic panels, heavy equipment and construction workers.  The westbound (north side) lane closure will allow the contractor to safely work through this section. The contractor will be adding a pedestrian refuge for those crossing 2100 North and the dedicated right turn lane.

In addition to this night work, the contractor will also be pouring concrete around manholes and utility valves on 2300 West between 2100 North and 2150 North.  Watch for construction workers, traffic control devices, and heavy equipment.

Watch for traffic control for those turning right (north) from west bound 2100 North onto 2300 West.  There will be changing lanes and closures for daytime and nighttime work - relative to the right turn movement.

Nighttime 2100 N Road Lane Closure Map 10-23-2024.jpg

There have been a few questions about crosswalks and pedestrian crossings at the intersection of 2300 West and 2150 North.  Due to the proximity and the timing of the existing signals at 2100 North and the new, to be installed signals, at 2150 North, there will be no pedestrian crossing at 2150 North across 2300 West.  Those wanting to cross 2300 West will need to do so at 2100 North.  Pedestrians will be able to cross 2150 North at 2300 West.

Up Coming Work -October 27th & November 3rd

On Sunday, October 27th the traffic signal lights of both east bound lanes of 2100 North and 2300 West will be out of service.  All traffic movement through this intersection will be controlled by highway patrol or local police officers.  Please be alert, slow down, and be courteous and/or consider avoiding this intersection.  It is anticipated this work will last from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

On Sunday, November 3rd, the traffic signal lights of both the west bound lanes of 2100 North at 2300 West will be out of service. All traffic movement through this intersection will be controlled by highway patrol or local police officers.  Please be alert, slow down, and be courteous and/or consider avoiding this intersection.  It is anticipated this work will last from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Update - October 16th

For the remainder of this week and next, the contractor will be focused on finishing up the improvements that are within the roadway and those that are adjacent.

This week the contractor is relocating and installing utilities, and importing road base to make way for an additional north bound lane along 2300 West.  This is on the east side of the roadway between both directions of 2100 North.

IMG_5776.jpg

This work also involves relocating a signal pole foundation base.

The contractor is pouring several hundred feet of concrete every day to finish the multi-use path from 2300 West to the Jordan River.

Next week

Starting Tuesday, October 22nd, the contractor will be performing night work along the north side (west bound) section of 2100 North through the 2300 West intersection.  The north lane will be closed from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. each night through Thursday, October 24th.  The south side of 2100 North (west bound) will remain open to through traffic.  Please watch for traffic control, traffic panels, heavy equipment and construction workers.  The westbound lane closure will allow the contractor to safely work through this section and will be adding a pedestrian refuge for those crossing 2100 North and the dedicated right turn lane.

It is also anticipated that the contractor will be pouring concrete around manhole covers and utility valves in the newly paved section of 2300 West, between the 2150 North intersection and the west segment of 2100 North.   The contractor will place traffic control panels at each location to provide warning of areas to avoid, rather than the large steel plates.  Again, please slow down, pass with caution and give yourself extra time to navigate this road section.

Update - October 9th - Thank you for your patience

We appreciate your patience while the contractor blocked off the roadway and intersection of 2300 West from 2100 North to 2150 North on Sunday while fresh asphalt and paint were being applied.  The work is not done, but the complete closure of this area is finished.  The remaining work includes directional striping, two concrete islands, the traffic signal poles/mast arms and general cleanup of the area.

The newly paved dedicated right turn lane and the west bound acceleration lane on 2100 North will remain closed as the contractor pours concrete on the northwest corner of 2100 North and 2300 West for a pedestrian refuge.  This will provide a place for pedestrians to safely wait as they are crossing the dedicated right turn lane and then cross west bound 2100 North.  There will be traffic control barricades in place to provide safety for workers/equipment and to delineate the path of travel.  As you approach this ongoing work zone - please slow down, be patient and courteous of other drivers/workers.  It has been noted that some drivers have cut through work zone barricades.  This is illegal, unsafe and causes further delays in driving and construction work.

IMG_5533.jpg
IMG_5531.jpg

Additional Work

Within the next few weeks, the contractor will also make adjustments to the traffic signal light heads to be aligned with the newly installed and future lane striping.  Additionally, the contractor will be excavating and importing gravel to make way for an additional north bound lane on the east side of 2300 West between east and westbound 2100 North.

Over the next few weeks you will also see what appears to be random traffic control devices in various locations within the roadway.  Be assured, these do have a purpose.  That is, the contractor will be pouring concrete rings around manhole covers and utility valve access points.  The concrete helps stabilize around the metal manhole or access point.  These traffic control devices are used in place of large steel plates that are noisy or potentially jarring when driven over.  The temporary traffic control devices will only be in the road as long as needed, as the contractor will be using quick drying concrete.

Update - October 2nd - Temporary Intersection Closure at 2150 North and Triumph Boulevard

This weekend, Sunday, October 6th, the intersection of 2150 North and 2300 West will be closed to through traffic.  This will allow the contractor to roto-mill a layer of asphalt, pave a new layer of asphalt and then apply fresh paint striping.  This will be a one-day closure only.  This work will commence at 7 a.m. Sunday morning, continue throughout the day and then re-open at 5 p.m. Sunday afternoon.

CROPPED Road Closure Map-Triumph Blvd at 2150 North.jpg

Only the neighborhood to the northeast of the 7-11 and the store itself, will be allowed access through the closure area this Sunday.  The only access to this area will be from the north.  There will be flaggers in the area to facilitate local residential (northeast neighborhood) and 7-11 traffic.  If you live in this neighborhood, or if the 7-11 is your destination, expect delays due to the work taking place, and be advised that at times driveway accesses may be temporarily blocked.

There will be electronic message boards in the surrounding area giving detour instructions.  If you use these roads on weekends, please slow down, use caution and be patient with the construction workers, flaggers and other drivers.

A new dedicated right turn lane from southbound Triumph Boulevard, onto westbound 2100 North is under construction, along with an acceleration lane to assist merging with westbound 2100 North traffic.  These will both remain closed to traffic for approximately two more weeks while the contractor builds a pedestrian refuge on the northwest corner of Triumph Boulevard and westbound 2100 North.

Additionally, the contractor is installing a center concrete curb median to Triumph Boulevard at the intersection with westbound 2100 North.

Update - September 24th - The Merge!!

A very significant issue has arisen with the new double south bound lanes south of 1500 North on 2300 West.  If you have been south bound lately on 2300 West, you have possibly discovered the potentially uncomfortable situation of dealing with merging traffic from two lanes to one, between 1400 North and 1350 North.  There is a new merge sign and paint striping.  This merge situation will exist until the project completes the full two lane south bound cross section down to Main Street.  As this is a new, but temporary driving situation, Lehi City officials are requesting your caution, courtesy and curbing your desire to beat the car next to you as you make your merge movement.  In other words, please slow down and apply the "Golden Rule" as you approach this road section.

IMG_5291.jpg

For the past few weeks the contractor has focused on the north side of west bound 2100 North and the intersection of 2150 North and 2300 West.  Two major improvements are the addition of a dedicated right turn lane from 2300 West onto westbound 2100 North and a signalized intersection at 2150 North and 2300 West.

This week the contractor poured ADA compliant sidewalk accesses and several sidewalk panels.  This has been an inconvenience to the four homes on this intersection.  The project team really appreciates the patience and willingness of the residents as this work has taken place.  The good news is that it is expected that this work will be complete before winter weather sets in.

The remainder of this week and next, the contractor will be preparing this intersection for rotomilling and a new asphalt overlay.  The work will commence early Sunday, October 6th.  The contractor will start with rotomilling and then finish up with paving.  It is anticipated this will take most of the day.  This is a busy intersection, and while it will not be fully closed, it will be highly restricted to provide space for the heavy equipment.  There will be traffic signage, barricades, and construction workers/flaggers directing traffic.

An advance update notice will be provided to those home most immediately impacted by this disruption.  The project team thanks you all in advance for your patience and cooperation.  And as always, please use caution as you approach and drive through this intersection, or, avoid it entirely if you are able.

Update - September 17th - Traffic Control

The project team and Lehi City have received several email concerns about the lack of two-lane striping on 2300 West, south of 1500 North. Once the project is complete, there will be two lanes in each direction with a center turn lane from 2150 North down to Main Street.

The recent change to 2300 West from one to two lanes in each direction between 2100 North and1500 North, has created lane merge challenges south of 1500 North.

More recently traffic control panels have been placed on 2300 West, both north and south of 1500 North. On occasion these traffic control devices have been moved by unauthorized persons. Please do not participate in this. It is illegal to move or remove traffic control devices. These barricades play a key role in safely controlling traffic movement within construction zones and other areas where normal driving circumstances are being modified.

Weather permitting, the project will have new striping in place by the end of day Wednesday, September 18th. This will provide two travel lanes on 2300 West, south of 1500 North, with added signage and striping to merge traffic down to one lane at 1350 North.  We appreciate your cooperation and patience as these efforts takes place.

Ongoing work between 2150 North and 2100 North on 2300 West

The contractor continues to work and make progress on the intersection of 2150 North and 2300 West.  The improvements at this intersection include new traffic signals, improved ADA ramps and a designated westbound right turn lane from 2300 West onto 2100 North.

Additional excavation and road base placement will take place this week along the north side of 2100 North, west of 2300 West.  Next week, weather permitting, the curb and gutter for this new acceleration lane should be installed.

Update - September 10th

This week the contractor will be primarily focused on the ADA pedestrian ramps at the intersection of 2150 North and 2300 West.  The signal pole base foundations were also poured in place in anticipation of the new traffic signals to be installed this Fall.

The contractor is working on the right turn lane from 2300 West onto 2100 North. Work is also taking place on the westbound acceleration lane on 2100 North.

As always, please be cautious and alert to construction workers and heavy equipment in and around the active construction zones.

IMG_5041.jpg

September 4, 2024 Update

This week and next, the contractor will be focused on the intersection improvements to 2300 West between 2100 North (west bound) and 2150 North. A new dedicated right turn lane (west bound) will be added on 2300 West.

The ADA sidewalk access ramps will also be upgraded to meet new standards. While these intersection improvements are underway, all pedestrian access is closed, including the pedestrian access on east bound 2100 North and at 2150 North.

We apologize for this inconvenience but request your compliance and patience during this construction phase. This is for everyone's safety. Construction workers are using heavy equipment, with vehicle traffic only a few feet from the work zone. Pedestrians in this area create safety complications for themselves, vehicles, and workers.

Ongoing Construction Areas

The contractor will continue working along 2300 West between 300 North and 900 North. New utilities and infrastructure will be installed along the roadway.

While no lengthy road closures are expected in this area, please be mindful of construction workers, flaggers and equipment.

August 28, 2024 Project Update

The HAWK traffic signal is now functioning.  A few additional features have also been added to enhance the visibility and safety.  A white stop bar has been added about 15 to 20 feet from the actual crosswalk.  Yellow cross hash stripes have been added to the center turn median just before and after the crosswalk.  This striping indicates that the center turn median is not to be used in this specific area.

The large steel plates in the roadway are covering utility accesses and are allowing the concrete to cure for a few more days. These will be removed by the end of the week.

IMG_4808.jpg

2100 North and 2150 North

The contractor is continuing to work on the north side of the 2100 North intersection.  A west bound acceleration lane will be added and require excavation and widening of this area.  In addition, a dedicated right turn lane for southbound traffic on 2300 West will be added between 2150 North and 2100 North. During construction the sidewalk will be removed and relocated.  The contractor will also be removing all of the existing ADA ramps at 2150 North and 2300 West and replacing them with ramps that meet new standards.

August 21, 2024 - Traffic Update

The HAWK (High-intensity Activated Crosswalk) signal is scheduled to be functional by the end of the week, if not sooner.  There are a few more elements that need to be added to the mast arms and additional pavement striping.  Eventually the HAWK signal will be coordinated with the traffic signal at 2100 North to synchronize the timing between the two signals and provide safety for pedestrians yet maximize traffic flow. Please be cautious and give increased attention to children, parents and the crossing guards as they use the crosswalk at this new location.

The contactor is also working on finishing up a few remaining items along this road section from 2100 North to 1500 North.  For the remainder of this week there will still be traffic control barricades in place to provide one north and south bound lane with a left turn lane.  There may be some lane shifting through the end of the week, so please use caution and be on the lookout for directional signage and workers within this active construction zone.  This section of road should be barricade free by Monday of next week, providing two north and sound bound lanes with a center turn median.   With this now being a five (5) lane road section (2100 North through 1500 North) there will be traffic merging for south bound drivers as there is still only one lane in each direction south of 1500 North.

The following image is what drivers and pedestrians will see as they approach the new HAWK Signal.

Ongoing construction

While there are no road closures or detours anticipated this week or next, there will still be active construction occurring along the road shoulders and some intersections.  Specifically, the contractor will be working along the shoulder of the west bound lane of 2100 North and along 2300 West between 300 North and 900 North.

August 14, 2024 - Traffic Update

With North Point Elementary School opening Thursday of this week, the contractor is working feverishly to make the construction zone as clean and user friendly as possible, in spite of it still being an active construction zone.  The number one priority will be the safety and walkability of the elementary school children to and from school along 2300 West.  With the new roadway improvements, the former pedestrian cross walk at 1750 North has been eliminated and a new higher visibility cross walk is being installed about 150 feet north of the previous location.  The goal is to have this new crosswalk fully functional by Thursday morning.  As in previous school years, there will also be a crossing guard at the new location.

Additionally, the new 2300 West street improvements permanently eliminate any ability to stop, park or drop off students in front of or near the school on either side of 2300 West.  The new improvements, once the barricades are removed, will provide a five (5) lane profile - two lanes each in both north and south directions and a center median turn lane.  As such, all on street parking is permanently eliminated.

For those parents driving their children to school, there will be an available left turn lane along 2300 West from just north of 1750 North up to the north entrance into the elementary school.  During ongoing construction, please pay close attention to traffic barricades and directional signage, as these provide the directed driving pathway.

The traffic barricades along 2300 West from 1500 North to 2100 North will remain through the month while the contractor pours new collars around the utility access lids.  Be on the lookout for a few more lane shifts in this section until the new concrete has been poured and cured.

INTERSECTIONS & LANE CLOSURES

Good news!!  If the weather holds the contractor is planning on paving the intersections at 1500 North, 900 North and the open utility trench sections at 600 North by end of day Wednesday, August 15th.  Once paved these areas will be open to through traffic.  There will continue to be work along the roadways and the edges of these intersection, so continue to be cautious, but through traffic will be open.

And finally, starting Monday, August 19th, the contractor will be working on the west bound, north side of 2100 North.  This will necessitate the temporary closure of the outside lane while the contractor excavates and makes preparation for a new west bound acceleration lane on 2100 North.  This work is expected to last several weeks.

August 7, 2024 - Traffic Update

For the rest of this week, and Monday and Tuesday of next week the contractor is working on 2300 West from 1500 North to 2100 North to have as much done as possible before school starts on Thursday, August 15th at North Point Elementary. During this timeframe continue to expect to see traffic control barricades which will shift lanes back and forth through the drive lanes as the contractor pours concrete around utility access points and other construction activities.  Please be cautious through this area, follow all signage and watch for construction workers.

IMG_4525 (1).jpg
IMG_4528.jpg

Temporary Intersection Closures

The contractor will also be working along 2300 West - in both intersections at 1500 North and 900 North the rest of this week and next.  The work will alternate between the two intersections regarding closures, meaning neither intersection will be both closed off at the same time.   Watch for and follow detour signs, consider using alternate routes and or give yourself extra time if this is your required route of travel.

July 30, 2024

On Wednesday, July 31st expect lane shifts while the contractor will be paving the east side of 2300 West from 1500 North to 2100 North.  The road will remain open for one lane of traffic in each direction, but there will be heavy equipment and workers in and around the travel lanes.  Please be cautious, reduce speed, follow all directional signs and avoid the orange traffic barrier panels.  As paving and other wrap work progresses in this area, there will be additional lane shifts to accommodate that work.

The contractor is working to have this section mostly complete and minimize further construction in this area in anticipation of schools being open in mid-August.  It is also anticipated that a new pedestrian cross walk with accentuated lighting will be installed and functional prior to school starting.  This will be at the south east corner of North Point Elementary at approximately 1835 North on 2300 West.

July 26, 2024 - Traffic Update

Intersection Closure - West side of 1500 North at 2300 West.

The contractor will be closing the west half of the intersection of 1500 North and 2300 West for roto milling and road resurfacing.  North and South bound traffic on 2300 West will be open, but narrowed down at 1500 West.  East and West traffic on 1500 North will need to follow a detour route, or use alternative streets to travel.  This will commence Monday, July 29th at 7 a.m. and re-open Tuesday evening July 30th.  (see detour map below)

1500 North closure and 2300 West half closure July 26 2024 SH Edits.jpg

July 23, 2024

This week 2300 West from 2100 North to 1500 North will continue to be an area of ongoing construction activity.  However, Wednesday, July 24th - there will be no active construction on Pioneer Day.  Please be cautious as there are still areas where asphalt has been removed down to gravel/road base.  All signage, and orange cones/panels will still be in place to provide functional travel lanes.  Further south on 2300 West, the road closure is still in effect from 900 North to 600 North - please follow the designated detours signs and routes.

A Look Ahead

On Monday, July 29th through Wednesday, July 31st the contractor will finish up the rotomilling and commence placing more layers of asphalt.  Keep an eye out for flaggers and signs giving direction as this work will require the travel lanes to shift from east to west and back again during this work.

The contractor will be working at night at the intersections of 2100 North and 2150 North on 2300 West on Monday, July 29 through Thursday morning August 1st.  They will be boring under the roadways to install utility conduit and piping.  The roadways will be open for vehicular traffic, but please be cautious as there will be equipment and workers in and around these roadways.  This work is being performed at night, with approval from Lehi City, because there is less traffic on the roadways and it is safer for construction crews.

There will be specific and isolated water service shut offs on both Monday, July 29th and August 5th from early morning until late afternoon.  This will take place around 600 North and 900 North so that temporary connections can be made in order to facilitate working around other existing utilities.  Prior to water service being shut off, a notice will be provided to each resident impacted by this work.  More specific details will be provided on the notice and the website at that time.

July 17, 2024

On Monday, July 15th the contractor shifted north and south traffic on 2300 West to the newly paved section of 2300 West (east side).  The south bound lane of 2300 West (west side) is closed for roto milling which is scheduled for this Saturday July, 20th.

Full Closure of 2300 West from 900 North to 600 North.

Starting Tuesday, July 22nd there will be a full closure of 2300 North between 900 North and 600 North. Residents living within the closure area will be permitted to enter and exit the closure area. This section of road will be closed to all but this local traffic. All others please use the detour to get around the closure (see detour map below).

2300 West Closure from 900 N to 600 N Detour Map.jpg

July 10, 2024

This will be a busy week in the active construction zone.

On Thursday, July 11th, the contactor will be working in the intersection of 1500 North and 2300 West.  The north bound lanes of 2300 will be closed on the east side of the 1500 North intersection.  North and south bound traffic on 2300 West will be shifted to the west side of the street and reduced to one lane in each direction.   The contractor will close approximately 500 feet of 1500 North from the intersection of 2300 West going east.

1500 North will be closed to all traffic at this location.  Those needing to travel east or west on this section of 1500 North will need to follow the detour signs and routes.   The intersection will re-open on Sunday, July 14th.   Please see the closure and detour map below.

1500 North Detour Map Design.jpg

Construction crews are currently preparing the north bound lanes (east side) of 2300 for 3 inches of new asphalt.  Additional asphalt will be added once both sides have received the first application of asphalt.  It is anticipated that this paving will take place on Friday, July 12th.  As the asphalt is laid down it will be compacted in place, adding both strength and durability, using pneumatic or vibratory rollers.  This will produce both noise and vibration that will be heard and felt in adjacent properties.  We apologize in advance.

IMG_3906.jpg

A look ahead to next week

The week commencing Monday, July 15th the contractor will be shifting north and south traffic on 2300 West to the newly paved section of 2300 West (east side).  The south bound lane of 2300 West (west side) will be closed for roto milling.

July 3, 2024

This week, it being a short one with the July 4th holiday, the contractor is prepping the east side of 2300 West between 2100 North and 1500 North for paving.  You will also begin to see new concrete being poured at the intersection corners for the new ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) ramps.

As a reminder there will be no work on the project from Thursday, July 4th through Sunday, July 7th.  Work will commence again on Monday, July 8th.  Please continue to use caution in and around the active construction zone - not just in the roadways, but sidewalks too.

active constrcution zone updates July 2nd.jpg

This week and next you will see underground boring equipment active on the east side of 2300 West, this is for the installation of conduit for future utilities.

IMG_3812.jpeg

Over the next few weeks you will see some paving on the east side and roto milling on the west side.  This will necessitate the shifting of traffic lanes from one side of the street to the other side of the street.  Please use caution, follow all traffic signs and look for construction workers and flaggers providing direction to maneuver around active work areas.

June 28, 2024

This coming week with Independence Day, there will be no work on the project from Thursday, July 4th through Sunday, July 7th.

Some sidewalk sections, at street corners, will be closed temporarily during removal and installation of concrete.

Why is perfectly good concrete being removed?  Existing concrete at certain intersections will be removed because it does not meet the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).  New concrete will be poured in place to meet new ADA standards - increasing accessibility for people using wheelchairs.
